Notes:
From the liner notes: Ars Antiqua is a Medieval Latin term which means "ancient art". It refers to a specific style of music in 13th-century France which features counterpoint, the art of mixing vocal components simultaneously. Ars Antiqua genres include: organum, clausula, conductus, motet, hocjet and cantilena. The most significant of these is the motet, which is usually a Latin religious choral composition. The majority of the Ars Antiqua music was written anonymously, but the best known composers are Pérotin and Franco of Cologne. Ars Antiqua Remixed takes these classical compositions and juxtaposes them with innovative electronic dance artists of the 21st century to produce an eclectic and imaginative listening experience.
